Medical and Professional Services
Crown Veterinary Hospital is dedicated to providing you and your beloved pet with gold standard quality care. Our team understands that your pet is a special member of your family and we strive to treat each animal companion as if they were our own. Below is a list of our most common services provided and a brief description of each. Please feel free to call us anytime during regular business hours. We are more than happy to answer any of your questions.

 paw_print3.jpg  Vaccinations & Deworming

All vaccination and deworming protocols are designed to fit the individual needs of your pet. Our goal is to keep all animal and human friends safe and free from infectious disease and zoonotic parasites.

paw_print3.jpg Spay & Neuter

To ensure safety of your pet, all surgeries receive IV catheters and IV fluids while under anesthesia and are monitored closely by qualified veterinary assistants and comprehensive anesthetic monitors. We recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork for all surgery cases as a first line of defense against anesthesia related risks. Most Spays and Neuters are outpatient procedures and we will have your pet home with you that same day.

paw_print3.jpg Hydrosurge Bathing

All baths are completed using a Hydrosurge Bather. This is a high pressure bather that massages as it bathes and rinses. Medicated baths are also available for those special cases with skin problems, such as allergies and seborrhea.

paw_print3.jpgHealth Certificates

Health certificates are needed so that your pet may travel safely with you wherever you go. We will be happy to provide a health certificate during any exam. We suggest that you ask the airline what information is needed ahead of time. All airlines and states have different requirements.

paw_print3.jpgHeartworm & Flea Prevention

Fleas love the warm weather as much as we do. We recommend flea preventatives all year round in San Diego. Continuos Heartworm prevention is also important for all dogs and cats. Unfortunately, Heartworm infections are a growing problem in San Diego County, partially due to the high volume of tourists and Military we have here. A heartworm blood test is required prior to administering any heartworm prevention.

paw_print3.jpgUltrasound

Ultrasounds are available as a state of the art diagnostic tool. This allows our doctors to view the internal organs and check for masses or other abnormalities.

paw_print3.jpgOrthopedic & Soft Tissue Surgery

Dr. Speir is TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) certified. Many of your pet's orthopedic needs such as knee surgeries and fractures can be accomplished at our facility.

paw_print3.jpgDentistry

Dental disease is one of the most common diseases seen in our family pets. If left untreated bacteria from the mouth can spread into the blood stream and damage the internal organs. Our focus is to eliminate all present dental disease and educate our clients on proper dental care. We recommend the OraVet Homecare Kit, CET products and regular brushing as a means to providing healthy mouth care.

paw_print3.jpgAcupuncture and Alternative Medicine

Dr. Grunewald is certified in Animal Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine, including supplement and nutritional therapy. Acupuncture stimulates a specific point on the body to restore balance to the body and enable healing. Acupuncture can be beneficial in treating many ailments your pet may experience, such as pain from musculoskeletal problems, neurological disorders, gastrointestinal problems, asthma, and arthritis, just to name a few.up

paw_print3.jpgSenior Wellness

Most pets are considered seniors after 6-8 years of age and we treat our senior friends with the special care they deserve. At age 6 we recommend running a blood panel and urinalysis in order to catch any early stages of disease, such as diabetes, thyroid disorder or liver and kidney disease. Our team can help you decide the best maintenance plan and diet needed to improve the quality of life and longevity of your longtime friend.

paw_print3.jpgBoarding

We know that you want to take your pet wherever you go; however, we realize that this is not always possible.  We are happy to care for your pet while you are away.  We have staff members dedicated to strictly taking care of your pet’s boarding needs such as walking, feeding, brushing and giving love.  Call our office for a reservation. We recommend early notice for holidays since we do fill up fast.
